ComfyHand
The challenge
Currently there are a lot of patients that feel a shortage of support during certain medical treatments. More specifically, when in (partly) unconscious situations, a supporting hand could offer comfort to a patient. Although there are developments working to a solution, they are not sustainable, safe and/or easy to use.
The solution
We want to create a sustainable, hand-held, hand-shaped support to patients experiencing anxiety. We are working on our ideas. Depending on the future customers and their demands and wishes, three categories can be defined. Each category has its own opportunities: (1) More expensive, stays in hospital mechanical hand. (2) Cheap, non-mechanical, easy to use hand. Stays in hospital or can be kept by the patient. (3) Cheap, non-mechanical, personalised hand, which would be ordered by the patients themselves. The key elements are: safe, affordable, easy to use, achieves purpose, sustainable.
Develop a hand-held, non-pharmaceutical medical device, that emulates human touch, in order to reduce psychological anxiety and physiological stress in patients in Dutch hospitals.
