Identity, Interactivity & Intersectionality
The challenge
Today, many people experience micro-aggressions via countless platforms such as Facebook or Twitter that can prevent them to connect on a deeper levels with other online users. This can also prevent constructive dialogues from happening and reinforces differences amongst people. Plus, the regulations on online bans can lead to bullying that usually heavily targets specific groups of people, i.e. marginalized identities. Therefore, we want to create a platform which offers people to create a safe space and share their own narratives, leading to greater communication and allows online users to educate themselves on social issues.
The solution
Currently, we are thinking of creating a platform/app where people can gather and share their individual experiences and knowledge through discussions, content creation, and workshops. Therefore, we would like to create a safe space for marginalized communities while enabling people to learn from one another. Moreover, our project also includes an interactive map where people can monitor grassroots communities and organizations/associations, to promote real-life exchanges. This would help to lessen the apprehensions some people may have towards online interactions, but ensure a secure environment for all users beyond our platform.
We want to prevent online harassment and micro-aggressions through a platform where people can create an online safe space and share educational content.
