The challenge

We are living in a revolutionary time of connectivity. Technological innovations such as the internet, satellite telecommunications, and e-mail have given us access to an increasingly larger database of information and contacts, resulting in the so-called ''information age''. While one cannot downplay the opportunities and advantages of these developments, it can be argued that the use of content algorithms and social media subdivisions has had the opposite effect. People are incentivized, be it by choice or by design, to only view the content they want to view, thus resulting in increasingly large ''echo chambers'', which increases societal divide and polarisation on a multitude of topics such as culture and politics.

The solution

To create a platform and plug-in for the most used social media platforms, which allows people from different backgrounds to connect and share their ideas with each other. In this digital era we should use social media platforms to our advantage, to bridge the divide between various groups. Initially, this platform can be introduced amongst university students. This facilitates a way to bring together students with (a)similar views, who are stuck at home and want to connect with others!
