Combining PET/MRI imaging to visualize vulnerable plaques
The challenge
There are no real guidelines currently on how to investigate symptoms of cardiovascular diseases in patients. Imaging techniques now are done using PET scans, but also MRI scans. However, these two techniques are not used to their full potential.
The solution
A new imaging technique can combine both PET and MRI scans. This allow us to retrieve significantly more information about cardiovascular diseases, which improves accurate diagnosis. Accordingly patients coping with these diseases can be treated faster.
